We’re hiring: Pedagogic Director (maternity cover)

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Pedagogic Director to lead our diverse teaching team, nurture and represent our pedagogic framework and ensure the efficiency and high quality of our services.

What will you be doing?

Overview

This is a full-time, temporary maternity cover starting on 1 February 2024 for the minimum duration of one year. The role involves managing a team; teaching and mentoring; and contributing to the efficient delivery of the Engame Academy programme in English. The successful candidate will be required to work in person at the Budapest office for at least 3 days a week.

How do we work and how is your work valued?

  • We currently work in a mixed home-office and in-person system. Most of our colleagues spend about 50% of their time at home and 50% in our welcoming office at Maros utca 12.
  • Working hours are flexible and partial home office was already a thing before the pandemic at Engame Academy. At the same time, it’s important to note that, as most of our students are high-school students, they can only attend our program in the afternoons and on Saturdays. As a result, most of the teaching team’s contact hours are: weekdays between 3pm and 7pm and Saturdays between 10am to 5pm.
  • We use Lenovo Thinkpad X series business category laptops and our office has a strong wifi network and all the things we need to work efficiently.
  • We believe in transparency, so we have a fully transparent salary system, where everybody knows how much the others make. Salaries are set based on the experience of the employee and his/her responsibilities that come with the position.

Key Responsibilities

Educational leadership

  • Line manages internal teaching staff and provides professional guidance to external teaching and mentoring staff, following the pedagogic philosophy of the Academy.
  • Provides professional development for internal teaching staff and training to external teaching staff.
  • Creates and maintains a vibrant, active, growth-oriented community of teachers and mentors.
  • Represents and nurtures the Pedagogic Framework of Engame Academy.

Programme operations and monitoring

  • Oversees teaching activity within EASS and ensures smooth operation by serving as a link between teachers and the Education Coordination team.
  • Ensures alignment between our pedagogic framework and day-to-day teaching activities within the programme, and contributes to programme development in coordination with Directors and Head of Education.
  • Contributes to quality assurance efforts through lesson observations and student feedback data analysis in order to ensure the high quality of teaching and the realisation of intended learning outcomes.

Spearheads programme strategy and development

  • Understands and supports business strategies through innovative pedagogic development projects related to curriculum and broader programme development.

Teaching and mentoring

  • Provides teaching and mentoring sessions in different years.

Requirements for the position

  • Masters level university degree
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Hungarian
  • Experience with interactive, skills-based, student-centered pedagogies
  • 2+ years of experience in training teachers / mentors / youth workers
  • Up-to-date knowledge in trends in education, especially around career orientation and skills development
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Approachable, reliable, organised personality
  • Identification with Engame Academy’s mission and values
  • Strong teamwork and effective communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a self-starter mindset
  • Proactivity and a systematic approach to tasks
  • Innovative and up-to-date with global education trends

What would be appreciated, but is not required?

  • Degree in Teaching or Teacher training
  • Experience in education leadership
  • Knowledge of Engame Academy
  • Experience in collaborating with different stakeholders, including parents
  • Experience in continuous assessment of teachers and curriculum
