What will you be doing?

Overview

We are looking for freelance Academic Seminar Leaders to contribute to our educational program in Junior year (11th grade) by teaching academic seminars: seven-week  courses consisting of 90-minute classes in a small group setting (6-16 students). Seminars aim to provide students insight into academic disciplines and broaden their horizon, thereby supporting academic orientation and advancement.

  • professional expertise in one or several academic fields 
  • a passion to talk about your field 
  • experience in online teaching: demonstrated expertise in using digital technologies in teaching and classroom management
  • experience or interest in  curriculum  development
  • native-like proficiency in English

Key Responsibilities

Teach interactive, engaging weekly sessions that inspire students to discover or dive deeper into academic fields; help them understand interdisciplinary connections and improve their academic and English skills;

Teach from pre-existing lesson plans where provided, or;

Design your own syllabus and course content with support from the Pedagogic Director;

Provide formative feedback to students on their development throughout the term (and if appropriate, on any home assignments);

Share teaching materials with students between classes;

Follow Engame Academy’s guidelines on teaching methodology and classroom management, in cooperation with our core staff.

Mentoring Payment

This is a fixed-term temporary assignment. Payment for Junior mentoring is (per student per academic year – for the school year 2023/24) by one of the following options:

72,000 HUF + VAT

in case you can issue an invoice

OR

Gross 64,000 HUF

in case of commission agreement (megbízási szerződés), minus payroll costs, HUF 3,900 per payment.

Fees are under currently under review for the 2024/25 academic year. More info will be shared further along the recruitment process.

Requirements for the position

What would be appreciated, but not required?

  • International work or study experience;
  • Experience in teaching soft skills (critical thinking, team work, problem-solving, public speaking, academic writing);
  • Experience with non-traditional teaching methodology, such as cooperative learning, drama pedagogy, theme-based learning, project-based learning, etc.

Remuneration

This is a fixed-term temporary assignment for one academic term, available via either invoicing as a sole trader / company where payment is 152,250 HUF + VAT, or a commission agreement where payment is a gross 136,000 HUF. Fees are under review for the 2024/25 academic year and will be communicated closer to the start of year.

Next to payment, we also provide monthly community events and offer regular professional development opportunities.
